Meet Our Founder
"It’s not where you’re from. It’s who you are that matters." - Kat Mooney

Kat Mooney
When Kat was a little girl, she dreamed and had inspirations about helping people. She aspired to be a social service worker to help children, youth, and their families. She attended her first international conference on child abuse prevention at 21 in Toronto, where she fell in love with a drawing that had a significant impact on her then and still does today.
Kat laminated this poster, hung it, and had it in every office where she worked. Then Montreal and now being in Edmonton, it has come full circle to the young artist, Vincent Sinclair (who is the CEO of VIMARK Solutions) from Jasper Place High School.
Kat dedicated the first seven years of her career to working in the social service sector with children, teenagers, and their families in youth protection, health, recreation, and education. While managing the federal government Stay-In-School-Initiatives program at BGC Dawson, also known as Dawson Community Centre, the funding suddenly ceased. This experience catapulted Kat’s career into the exciting, demanding, and challenging world of fundraising.
The Challenging and Wonderful World of Fundraising
Kat has 25+ years of experience in the business of fundraising and communications. A bilingual French-speaking Anglophone, Kat has worked with several Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and spent some time in the corporate sector collaborating with a top financial advisor with RBC Dominion Securities and working as the marketing and communications coordinator.
Kat was recruited for her ‘out-of-the-cage’ thinking and trained in guerilla marketing techniques and letter writing to generate new business and clients. Kat knows the importance of fundraising.
“If we don’t have the funds, no matter how good our programs and services are, we cannot sustain them and, in turn, cannot help the people who need the support.”
